How Supporting Local Business Helps Make a Better Heber Valley
The Personal Connection and Quality Product
When you make something from hand, there is a lot of love and pride put in your product. That is the joy of creating. Each of the products made by local vendors has an element of pride and care that shows in the product as well as it’s presentation.
Take Brooklyn Tayler- Brooklyn’s Pantry makes phenomenal sourdough bread. Any of us that has made bread know the challenges and the joy of creating something others enjoy as well as a source of nourishment. Brooklyn’s home made sourdough loafs are beautiful and delicious. What a treasure to know this wonderful small business is in the valley and that we have an opportunity to enjoy Brooklyn’s extraordinary bread. Brooklyn's Pantry is on Instagram to learn more or make an order!
Talking to Tara and Curtis of Ezential Alchemy you realize how passionate and knowledgeable they are about their product. Ezential Alchemy was born out of a love for all things natural and an appreciation for making "good-for-you" body care, from scratch. Tara and Curtis began experimenting with this dream back in 2020 and have since perfected recipes and essential oil blends. Tara brings a chemistry background while Curtis brings 15 years of culinary experience with an expertise of using only the finest ingredients from Mother Earth. They are dedicated to using sustainable and natural ingredients in all of their products. The personal connection between the product and the creator builds trust in me as a consumer. Their passion is contagious and I know I am purchasing a very special product.
Sourced locally, better for our planet-
Janet Carson of Center Creek Soap products include, fresh herbs, flowers and beeswax collected from farm, as well as from the high mountain ranges of the Wasatch Back. She describes her business as “a small home based company that puts love into every product I create”.
Bring back skills and product quality-

Her business demonstrates how one can succeed with artistic skills and a quality product. Meranie is using the money she earns to pay for her husbands medical bills from a serious condition. Pam and Beverly of JC's Jewelry & Accessories curate and create the beautiful Southwestern jewelry pieces that help Pueblo and Navajo craftspersons in the Southwest. Pam and Beverly hand bead the other stunning pieces. Their skill and craftsmanship show in each piece of jewelry they create.
Giving Back
Statistics show that dollars spent with a small business are six times more likely to be turned back into the local community and that is not just with the tax dollars invested back into the city/county. By supporting local business you give them a chance to grow and become sustainable. Some of our vendors are stay at home moms, and their business helps the family make ends meet. The value is not only monetary it is a quality-of-life advantage. How nice to have home made bread by a local baker. Soon Heber will have an authentic Thai restaurant, here is Nat and Tyler’s story about NomNom Thai below-
My name is Nat and I am from Bangkok, Thailand. My husband's name is Tyler and was born and raised in Utah. We met in Bangkok almost 15 years ago and got married and moved here to Utah over 10 years ago.
The entire concept of Nom Nom Thai is to use only the best ingredients, from the meat and produce we use to the sauces and seasonings we buy. For me, Nom Nom Thai is not just another restaurant. Thailand, as a country and a culture, has so much beauty to it and that is what I hope to share. Nom Nom Thai is not just about the food, but about sharing my culture with people here in Heber. Our goal is to open a restaurant here in Heber Valley later in the year here in 2024 where we hope to see everyone and hope that everyone can stop by, say hi, and share a story or two with us.If you had a chance to try Nom Nom Thai at the market, you would probably be as excited as I am to have the rich, authentic Thai restaurant coming to Heber. Business’ like Nats enrich our valley and lives.
Supporting a young new online business with a pop up presence in Heber Valley is Meraki Collective. This is a small sister owned business and both sisters are born and raised here in Heber Valley. They sell curated looks for your home and your wardrobe. Because their shop is primarily online, they appreciate getting out and doing the markets at Country Gardens. They have found that interaction with our community, and the networking with other local vendors to help them expand their business. They were able to make a month’s worth of online sales in one weekend at the markets! The markets help them grow their brand and audience.
Tori Dunn Sprinkled with Love creates delicious baked goods. She is able to take care of her young children while making her culinary masterpieces that are as much an art form as a sweet treat. “The Mountain Market and Country Gardens has been a great way to get my name out to the community. It has helped me to learn how to better run my business and what the community is looking for in my product category.” You don’t have to leave Heber Valley for that special occasion cake, stay here, save gas, get the most gorgeous pastry and support a local family. That is a win-win all the way around
While there are so many more business’, makers and crafters than this blog mentions, we are grateful and lucky to have them here in our valley!
